Round Four: Preference Round
You’re at the final stretch of recruitment— aka Pref. Now that you’ve had a bit of a break from the rush craziness, it’s time to jump back in starting with Round Four. This is a huge deal! You’ve spent long, hot days getting to know the chapters, staying true to yourself, and keeping an open mind. Now just one more day until Bid Day!
What Is Round Four?
Preference Round, or Pref, is the most emotional and meaningful round of recruitment. This is when you will visit up to two chapters and get a deeper look into the values, sisterhood, and traditions of the chapters.
Each chapter will:
- Have pref ceremonies that are more formal and reflective.
- Have current members share their experiences that came from joining their chapter.
- Most likely pair you with a sister who feels like she really connected with you throughout the week.
This round is all about connections— by this point sororities already know that they like you and want you to join their sisterhood, but it is about mutual fit. Ask yourself, “Can I see myself hanging out with these girls on a random Tuesday night?”
What To Wear
Pref is the most formal round out of all of recruitment. All PNM’s will wear black dresses as most chapters will also all be coordinated.
As for makeup, wear what makes you feel the most confident. You no longer will be running up and down Milledge in the heat, so no need to worry about sweating it all off.
For jewelry, think simple and elegant— gold hoops, pearl studs, delicate necklace and bracelets.
Nice heels or wedges are best for this round!

Tips for Pref
Be present— this is your last time to really connect with the chapters in order to make your final decision.
Ask questions— if you are still unsure about where you want to call home, ask the deep stuff.
- “What made you choose this chapter?”
- “How has sisterhood impacted your college experience?”
- “How did you know this was where to call home?”
Allow yourself to be open and vulnerable— this is an emotional round, so it’s okay to tear up. Even if you smile the whole time, that’s okay too! Allow yourself to be open and honest, if the chapter is a right fit, this shouldn’t be hard!
Final Thoughts
No matter where your bid leads you, you’re becoming part of something so much bigger than yourself. You are joining a group of strong women who will uplift, challenge, and walk beside you throughout your college journey. So for Round Four, take it all in and trust the process.
You've got this! 💗
