Sorority Recruitment Round Two at UGA

Round 2:
Congratulations PNM! You’ve officially kicked off your journey through UGA Panhellenic recruitment by submitting your Round One Video. Whether you’re feeling excited, nervous, or both — take a deep breath. You’ve already taken a big step and now it’s time to head into Round 2. This is your first face-to-face round of the week, and when things start to feel real. Although this may be intimidating, don’t be nervous, the active members are just as anxious to meet you too!
What Is Round Two?
Also called Philanthropy Round, this round focuses on each chapter's national and local philanthropic causes. Every Panhellenic sorority is deeply involved in service and fundraising efforts, and this round is to show you what each chapter stands for beyond sisterhood.
Each chapter will:
- Share information about their philanthropic mission.
- Highlight service projects or fundraising events they put on.
- Talk with you in groups or one-on-one about your interests, values, and experiences.
This round is all about values— your’s and the chapter’s. Don’t worry if you have not done tons of service work— chapters are not expecting a resume, but people who care, listen, and want to make a difference.
Round 2: Tips to Shine
Round 2 is more personal than Round 1, as you are meeting each chapter’s active members for the first time. This is your chance to form genuine connections and to get a feel for each chapter’s vibe, values, and philanthropic mission. Here’s how to make the most of it:
- Be Yourself
This is your first time actually speaking with sorority members and it can feel like a lot— but remember, the best version of you is the real one! It may be tempting to say what you think they want to hear, but the goal is to find a chapter where you feel truly at home. Let your personality shine through and be confident in what makes you you. Authenticity stands out way more than perfection!
- What To Wear
The dress code for Round Two steps up a bit from casual— this is your first in person round, and you’ll want to look polished while still feeling comfortable and confident.
A nice sundress works perfectly along with comfortable shoes! Think wedges, flats, sandals, or even nice sneakers for this round. Remember you will be walking up and down Milledge all day!
Light accessories like dainty jewelry goes a long way!
When it comes to hair and makeup— go for a natural, fresh look. You don’t need to go full glam, remember it is going to be hot!! Just enough to feel confident and put together.
Here’s some of our favorites for this round:
- Conversation Pointers
Don’t be stressed about having the “perfect answers” These are just conversations— not interviews. Still it helps to be prepared to talk about:
Why are you interested in joining a sorority.
What you are looking for in your college experience— friendship, growth, leadership, etc.
What causes you are passionate about and what service you have been involved in (even the small things count!).
Your hobbies and interests— this helps actives get to know your personality beyond philanthropy.
Also, don’t be afraid to ask questions. This shows that you are actively engaged in the conversation and curious. For example:
“What are your favorite philanthropy events?”
“How has being in a sorority impacted your college experience?”
“What are some of your favorite things to do around Athens?”
Final Thoughts
Round Two is the start of a real connection. Don’t overthink it—you are not being judged on your resume or your outfit. The goal is to find where you feel most welcomed, heard, and seen and also where you want to revisit for Round Three. Smile, breathe, and remember: the right chapters will love you for exactly who you are!
You've got this! 💗
Xoxo,
Arete
